Minori
|
Anciently, in roman age, the town had the name of Reghinna Minoris, in order to distinguish it from the bigger and contiguous Reghinna Maioris (from which the today 's names Minori and Maiori); originally Minori was a small village of fishermen, but today the town is considered one of pearls of the Amalfi Coast and has become a touristic center.
The main monument of the town is the Basilica of Santa Trofimena, who is the patron saint of Minori (she was also the patron saint of the Republic of Amalfi): inside of the church there are the relics of the Saint.
In 1932 a Roman Villa has been found(Minori was a locality of vacation for the Roman people), that contains precious relics, mosaics and decorations still well conserved.
